About us
Real BBQ. 100% Halal. 0% Compromise. Every Saturday at Level 61.
After a decade of backyard smoking, while running a Malaysian restaurant with my Malay wife, we decided to bring this hobby to the fore with these goals.
Delicious: Texas slow smoked top quality meats with a vibrant Malaysian edge, bliss in a box.
Affordable and accessible: We want people to experience our food. We’re not chasing one sale — we’re earning regulars.
Halal: Being Muslim shouldn’t mean settling for bad BBQ. Angered by too many disappointing halal “American” offerings, we decided to create Halal BBQ without compromise ( Our meat is supplied by Walid’s Halal Meat, Coburg to our specification ).
Welcome All: Food is about sharing and friendship. We have never had pork in our kitchen — but we make up for it with serious flavoursome specials: smoked lamb barbacoa, lemongrass chicken wings, spicy merguez sausages, Dubai tacos, smoked pulled goat sambal, even venison burgers.
Be Humble: Texas BBQ has deep roots and endless technique and innovation, we’re always learning. We’re not here to brag about being the best (unlike some others who self proclaim to be 100% the best Stakes (sic) & Brisket in Melbourne) — we just promise to keep improving, keep experimenting, and serve great BBQ at a fair price.
